The Right hand of Doom (Digital Painting)

I will state the obvious: despite the title, this has nothing to do with Hellboy.

Why that title, then? This image was inspired by the short story of the same title, which Robert E. Howard wrote many decades before Mignola was even born.

This is my first attempt at a real, finished illustration in... well... ever? So I know it is poor and lacking in many respects. But hopefully, it will be the first step in a long road of improvement and learning. And your comments and constructive criticism will help a lot with that.

I'm afraid I can't offer much criticism beyond "dude, that's totally freaking awesome right there man!" Well, apart from the fact it seems to be set at daytime, when I recall the proceedings happen at night, but the scene's very dramatic for it.

It's a fantastic first attempt, I could easily see it in an RPG sourcebook, or an actual Solomon Kane anthology. Many, many kudos to you!

Thanks for the positive feedback! That is very motivating. It makes me even happier, coming from a R.E.Howard fan like yourself (I took a quick look at your website).

You are right, I did take some artistic liberty regarding the time of day, and in joining the two events, to make a more dramatic image that would tell a whole story.
